Hi, I’m Lindsey Braney

I enjoy working with Millennial parents who are wanting to heal childhood trauma, college students, those with faith-related issues or those who have been hurt by the Church, those struggling to connect emotionally with others and maintain relationships, and teens and children. I often incorporate games and sand tray therapy into sessions with younger clients.

I bring to the table experience working with children, teens, young adults, new moms, and providing parent education in a variety of settings, including faith-based agencies, schools, community mental health, the juvenile justice system, adoption, and after-school programs. I am trauma-focused, faith-based, and love to bring warmth and humor into sessions.

I take a holistic approach- considering the mental, emotional, physical, social, creative, and spiritual aspects of clients' healing. I take special care to consider attachment ruptures and how they affect current relationships.

I tailor my approaches to clients' needs. I incorporate EMDR into my sessions for clients with trauma. I have training in child-related areas, such as Child Centered and Adlerian play therapy, TBRI, Conscious Discipline, and some Theraplay. I earned a Certified Clinical Trauma Professional certificate, meaning I have additional training in trauma treatment.

I have an eclectic approach to counseling and will tailor interventions to meet my clients' individual needs.

  • EMDR to process trauma--this can be done in person or via telehealth

  • Cognitive Behavioral Therapy

  • Mindfulness techniques

  • Body-based calming and grounding techniques

  • Overall health: I will often encourage clients to consider holistic health options to improve mental health

  • Art interventions

  • Play therapy--CBT, child-directed, Adlerian

  • Parent training--I use elements of Conscious Discipline, attachment theory, Trauma-Based Relational Intervention, Theraplay, and The Incredible Years program.

I also try to incorporate things that interest you, such as art, games, music, or short videos that are significant.

I hold a Christian worldview, which greatly influences the way I view and treat people, how I see good and evil interacting in the world, and where ultimate hope and Truth come from. I will incorporate faith conversations and/or prayer into sessions to the extent that clients are comfortable with. I also work with people who are not Christians and am respectful of their differences.
